Key partners of Expo Centre Sharjah are in awe of the growth achieved by the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show and are planning to scale up their participation in the future.

The MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show, which is under way at Expo Centre until April 9, is celebrating its landmark 40th edition and has become the focal point of the global jewellery industry.

Several senior officials and executives of industry associations and government entities from countries like Hong Kong, Italy, Singapore and Thailand were also highly impressed with the 40th edition of the show, the high quality and variety of content, superior ambiance, quality visitor turnout and overall show management.

“Our partners have played a key role in the growth of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show. Their participation, which is on the rise with every edition, has given the show the much-appreciated variety and uniqueness. We will continue to work with them to maintain the popularity and success enjoyed by the show,” said Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Expo Centre Sharjah.

Mr. Giorgio Aguzzi, Vice-President, National Confederation for the Craft Sector and Small and Medium Enterprises (CNA), Italy; Mr. Sauro Servadei, of Artex, which organises the Italian Pavilion at the show; and Mr. Wings Cheung, General Manager, Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association, visited the show and held talks with senior executives of Expo Centre Sharjah.

“I have been a regular visitor since the past 10 years and have seen the show growing in size, content and quality every year. Our participation has also grown over the years and I am happy to note that the Italian Pavilion is hosting 29 exhibitors this time. We also have the Italian Lounge, which has been received well by visitors,” said Mr. Aguzzi.

 

The Italian Lounge is aimed at providing a slice of Italian hospitality to visitors, who can admire the beauty and craftsmanship of jewellery in a relaxed atmosphere.

“The Italian Pavilion has become an integral part of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show. Our jewellery is known for its stylish design and high-quality craftsmanship, and our pavilion is featuring some prominent jewellers and exclusive designs this time. The participants have been receiving good response and we are expecting more visitors during the weekend,” said Mr. Servadei.

Mr. Cheung, who was in Sharjah after a long gap of over seven years, said he is amazed to see the growth of both Sharjah and the show. “It’s astonishing,” he said, adding that it was a totally a new experience visiting the show.

The Italian and Hong Kong officials held talks with an Expo Centre team led by Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, which included Sheikha Azza Al Qassimi, Deputy COO, Mr. P. Ravi, Director, Sales & Marketing, and Mr. Mohamed Amjed, Group Exhibition Manager (B2C).

“It was a pleasure receiving our key partners during the landmark 40th edition of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show. They are witness to the growth of the show, from a few exhibitors in 1993 to 300 participants for the 20th edition and 450 for the 30th edition. The show is now featuring 500 exhibitors. From a few hundred visitors in 1993, we are on the brink of crossing the 60,000-mark,” said Mr. Midfa, who felicitated key partners of the National Pavilions.

The show is open to visitors from 12 noon to 10 pm daily, and from 4 pm to 10 pm on Friday (April 8). Exclusive timings for ladies are on Wednesday from 12 noon to 4pm. Entry and parking are free.
