The phrase “World War 3 is about to start” has been circulating on social media following the news of Turkey shooting down a Russian warplane a few days ago.
Well, if those Russian planes keep on getting shot down it’s not particular a good sign for anyone.
From Russian planes flying in Baltic airspace, to the destabilization of Ukraine and the invasion of Crimea, to the terrorism of Isis and all the powers getting involved, it’s not like this is the first time we’ve felt WWIII is on its way, so what gives? What so different this time that everyone reads the Turkey headlines with such a bad feeling in their stomachs?
Here are some reasons why this crisis has us rushing to predict the end of the world as we know it:
1. The location is prime
Both Word War 1 and 2 started in Europe. What is wrong with this continent???
2. It’s a pretty big deal…
This is the first time since the Cold War that a NATO member stood its ground and said “no more” to a Russian fighter jet flying over its territory.
The great thing is if it’s a Russian plane Putin won’t overreact at all* *buys tinned food.Heads to fallout shelter https://t.co/j4wwGsaYGS

3. What will NATO do? The calm, cool and collected alliance of the NATO might have been cracked. The combined military spending of all NATO members constitutes over 70 percent of the global total, so if these guys decided to play, we will have one big party with fireworks all over the place.
