Being nice is something praised and wanted in the world, and yet nice people are also deemed naive and easy to fool. So what’s the solution? Should we or should we not be nice?

1- Saying No

Ahh the simple word No. How hard it is to utter. You don’t really have it in your vocabulary and when you try to communicate it to people through other words, they don’t really get it. It is very difficult for you to turn things down and it makes you feel super guilty when you have to, so you just end up avoiding it entirely.

2- Going out of your way

Because you can’t really say no, you end up finding yourself in situations where you have to do things you would rather not do for people. Rather than spending your time doing things you want, you are forced to waste your time because you are too nice!

3- Putting people ahead of yourself

You are important, but so are other people! To you, they’re sometimes more important. Oh, it’s fine; let’s see that movie that has a prequel that I didn’t see. Haven’t you been dying to see it? It’s okay that I won’t understand anything, as long as you’re happy.

4- Constantly trying not to hurt anyone

Tip-toeing around people’s feelings, making sure everyone’s happy. You feel a responsibility towards them. You know that you can’t make everyone happy but that won’t stop you from trying anyway!
