Come October and Sharjah turns into a veritable showcase of some elegant and eye-catching gold & diamond jewellery from across the world.

This is when the region’s most popular jewellery fair gets under way at Expo Centre Sharjah and hundreds of master jewellers and designers who are known for their craft and workmanship converge on Sharjah.

This is also the time when lovers of gold and diamond jewellery make a beeline to Expo Centre, to check out designs that range from bold and trendy, to elegant, simple and classic.

“The MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show is known the world over for its unique jewellery showcase… featuring thousands of new designs, retro works, rare jewellery and signature creations. This is one place that is loved for its vast range of jewellery that is both fashionable and timeless,” said Mr. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, ahead of the 39th MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show that will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from October 6 to 10, 2015.

Jewellers point out that more than mass market products the show is known for its exclusivity, and hence the majority of finely crafted necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and other items & accessories primarily target the royalty, affluent consumers, connoisseurs and the trade community from the country and the region. It is also one premier event where buyers can find some of the most versatile and adaptable pieces of jewellery they have ever seen.

“The designs this season are more likely to be quite bright and bold, with an exciting assortment of gold bracelets, necklaces, pendants etc. that are rich in tones of white, yellow and rose and embellished with diamonds, crystals, pearls and other gemstones,” said Mr. Mohamed Amjed, Group Exhibition Manager (B2C), Expo Centre Sharjah.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the upcoming edition of the show will feature 500 exhibitors across 30,000 sq metres of exhibition space at all the six halls at ECS. This is against last year’s 20,000 sq m and sees a 50% increase in space occupied, offering better visibility, easy navigation within halls and visitor movement.

Jewellers are also optimistic that the sharp decrease in gold prices will bring in more visitors, citing reports in local media that gold’s biggest price decline in over five years has already triggered buying frenzy among residents across the GCC.

“The upcoming show will also be the curtain raiser for the momentous 40th edition of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show that will be held early next year. We have already started preparations for the spring edition and the upcoming show will generate a flurry of excitement for the grand event next year,” said Mr. Midfa.

The show will be held from 6 to 10 October 2015 at Expo Centre Sharjah and the timings will be from 12 noon to 10pm daily, except Friday, 9th October. Friday it will be open from 4 to 10pm. There will also be an exclusive “ladies only” session which is from 12 noon to 4pm on Wednesday 7th October. Admission is free to all.
