Omar Al-Sherief has just passed away today, leaving our world behind at the age of 83 after a long battle with Alzheimer disease.

He was not just an Arab star, but also a Hollywood superstar and a 3 Golden Globe award winner, a Ceaser Award winner and an Oscar nominee.

Omar Al-Sherief started his career with the great Youssef Chahine in one of his greatest movies “sera3 fl wadi”. Shortly after he married his co-star the gorgeous Faten Hamama; together they lived a fairy tale which everyone looked up to before getting divorced.

His roles are forever engraved in our hearts, we could never forget Adel in “Saydet Al-Kasser”, Ragab in “Sera3 Fl Mina”, Ahmed in “Sera3 Fl Wadi” and definitely the role that made every girl dream of meeting someone like him Hussein in “Esha3et 7ob”, and of course his patriotic role in “Fi Baytona Ragol”. Last but not least, his comedian role that made us laugh our hearts out alongside to the star Adel Imam in “Hassan w Morkos.”

Omar Al-Sherief

Omar Al-Sherief for so many was not just an actor whom you watch his movies on the TV, but he was a role model, a symbol of class, elegance, beauty, and sophistication as well.  He was that boyishly cute lad and the very handsome man.

Omar Al-Sherief ladies and gentlemen was our last connection between our days and the good old days; he was the last gentleman standing. Let’s hope we find more of him in our time. Rest in peace our beloved star.
