We’re not quite sure how we did it, but we survived another Valentine’s Day! How did a day designed to bring people closer together get so cluttered with clichés that do just the opposite? Newsflash, teddy bears and bouquets of flowers are not what make us want to be together, it’s sharing experiences that makes us closer!

Here are some of the cheesy clichés we could seriously live without next year:

  • Red hearts
  • Red balloons
  • Red chocolate boxes
  • Red cards
  • Red outfits (especially the matching kind)
  • Basically anything red, because it looks like Cupid went wild and slathered everything in sight until we felt we could go blind from it
  • Sappy playlists
  • Terrifyingly huge stuffed teddy bears
  • Plus even the little stuffed teddy bears, because what are you supposed to do with them?

We came across this hilarious video by Close-Up that captures exactly how tired we are of the mushy clichés. Let’s not push each other away with sappy gifts, let’s go have an adventure together! Like suggested by Close-Up, here are some things we could do instead!

  • Ride a motorcycle together in the sun
  • Go star gazing (and maybe also gaze into each other’s eyes…)
  • Road trip to Sukhna and watch the sun go down

Or if you can’t get away from the city, at least don’t get away from each other by hiding behind overstuffed teddy bears. Oh but wait! Is the fear of having bad breath what’s holding you back? That’s legit, bad breath can be a serious mood killer and turn even the most perfect date night out into a nightmare. Some people are so terrified of having bad breath there is a phobia for it: halitophobia.

But with proper hygiene and products like Close-Up, you can bring the romance home and get as close as you want. Be bold! Taking risks is how you will get closer together, which we know is always better.
