Empire
It’s the weekend, and we all have a little more time on our hands now that summer has come into full swing. If you’re looking for a good show to binge watch, we strongly recommend Empire!

1- THE MUSIC!

Every single episode is packed with a bunch of original songs, from “You’re So Beautiful”, to “Keep It Movin'”, to “Boom Boom Boom” and “Nothing to Loose” – your ears will thank you. The best part is, each song fits so perfectly with the plot line, and sometimes, when we’re lucky enough, the guests are awesome (shh, you may or may not see Ludacris and Alicia Keys at some point).

2- Shipping Lucious and Cookie Lyon

Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard are relationship goals. Started from the bottom, made sacrifices, went through hell and back, had three kids (who turned out extremely hot FYI), and even though they’re not “together”, they are the ultimate power couple #GOALS.

3- Family Drama Like No Other giphy

There’s not a time where the Lyon family isn’t in feud. One member has to, at some point, hate another. But that’s okay, because life is boring without drama. And it also comforts us that those crazy arguments with our families are completely normal. Also, the Lyon’s are experts at throwing hella shade at each other.

4- SWAG (EVERYONE’S HOT!)

Okay, no seriously, this is important and you have to trust me on this. EVERYONE on the show is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous (except for Thirsty). The fact that they have impeccable swag does help for sure, and if you’re looking for fashion inspiration, Empire will give you that and so much more.

5- A Family of Minorities

If you’re anything like me, and want a show that’s both entertaining but still satisfies your need to change society, Empire’s got you covered. Other than revolving around music and money, the family is made up of minorities. They’re black, Cookie served time, Lyon is an orphan-ish, Jamal is gay (and his dad hates it), Hakeem dated a lesbian, and Andre is struggling with bipolar disorder (and in a bi-racial relationship). Hello, tolerance and self-acceptance, with a dash of musical magic.
