We’ve all seen, liked, shared, and tagged our friends in- “goals” posts found daily on every single social media platform. Problem is, however, they can completely deform our expectations in life in every way possible as they, most of the time, tend to be neither realistic nor attainable.

Here’s why I believe we’d all better start viewing those posts with skepticism and caution:

They Only Show One Side of the Story:

A single picture is not an actual story, but rather a one-time snapshot of a certain moment. “Relationship Goals” posts do not show you the full details of an actual relationship, but rather capture a particular moment and amplify it. They show you the good times, without showing you the bad.

Half the Time, They’re Fabricated:,

Those are not nerds; those are hot, toned models wearing glasses and posing shirtless for a shoot. Allow me to break it to whoever created this post: wearing glasses doesn’t make you a nerd.

Sometimes They’re as Materialistic as Hell:

I mean come on; nobody’s life goals should solely revolve around owning a mansion or wearing a Rolex. Perhaps, a better adjustment to that goal would be to work hard enough be able to afford those luxuries one day.

They Can Easily Make You Bored With Your Own Life:

Yeah, I’m pretty sure no one is going to remodel your whole bedroom for you on your birthday, unless you’re like the heir to some kind of throne. Most of us get a quick surprise party, custom-made cake and Facebook wall posts from people we haven’t seen in years wishing us happy birthday.

All in all, I do find some of the posts fun to look at or share with my friends. It’s all about not letting them get to your head and taking them with a grain of salt!
