NASA has been teasing us for about a week about a new ground breaking announcement. The kid in each of us was waiting for aliens, and waiting for Mr. Alien president to have a press conference, but we were disappointed to find the announcement saying that there might be water on Mars. The facts say that they found evidence of liquid salt water on the red planet, not actual liquid. Earlier this year, they announced that there’s possibly salty water under the surface, so the announcement of finding water wasn’t really surprising, but still a big deal in the scientific world. That being said, it’s not as big of a deal as people might think.
Was it a surprise that they might find water?
Here’s the thing, we already know this planet has water. They proved that it has polar ice caps. Even though it is dry ice, but anyone could figure out that they probably have liquefied water as well. It’s only a matter of “where the hell is it?”
Does that mean we’ll find aliens and can we move there?
To answer David Bowie’s long asked question – no, there’s probably no life on Mars. Not just yet, at least. While some are saying it might be the first lead to finding aliens, because they might be living around the water, no one really knows if our fellow martians drink, or actually need water. Especially cause it’s salty water, unless martians like underground beaches.
So if you were planning on moving and being best buds with J’onn J’onzz, we hate to break it but he doesn’t exist.
Now can you move there? That’s probably the dumbest question you could ask, or even think of! Yes, water is one of the basic life essentials, but that’s not everything. Not to mention, they never found pure water, or even surface water.
Why did they make a big deal out of the announcement when we already knew? Well… They might’ve been promoting a movie. Sorry lads, but NASA is selling out. Matt Damon’s new movie called “The Martian” is getting released soon, and this whole ordeal was probably a promotion for the movie. Even the movie’s director Ridley Scott said that he knew about this a month ago.
What now?
All we could do is leave Mars alone and stop investing money in a planet we’ll never use, and maybe make Earth a bit better.
