Summer is just around the corner. If you’re not into glamorous summer nights out or even like to spend summer the traditional Sahel way, just try to chill the old fashioned way around your family by the beach. Board games always seem like a great option to have fun and engage everyone after a long day at the beach. Apart from all the usual games like cards and chess, we’ve got it all under control with a bunch of board games to spice up the night.
1. Jenga
Players take turns to remove a wooden block from a tower and balance it on top, creating a taller and increasingly unstable structure as the game progresses.
2. Taboo
The objective of the game is for a player to have their partners guess the word on the player’s card without using the word itself or five additional words listed on the card.
3. Pictionary
The game is played with teams of players trying to identify specific words from their teammates’ drawings.
4. Monopoly Deal
This is the card version of the classic Monopoly game. Collect sets of properties with different colours, earn and swap properties and charge other players for rent.
5. Scrabble
A word game, in which two to four players score points by placing tiles, each bearing a single letter, to create a word.
6. Phase 10
The game is named after ten phases (or melds) that a player must advance through in order to win.
7. Game of Thrones
The game is designed for ages 14 and up, where three to six players try to claim the throne using different strategies and evil mind games.
8. ‘Tawla’
It’s a two player game where playing pieces are moved according to the roll of dice, and a player wins by removing all of their pieces from the board before their opponent.
9. Identical Cards
Identical Cards is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards.
10. Heads up
From naming celebrities, to singing to silly accents; guess the word on the card from your friends’ clues before the timer runs out!
If you decide to give any of these games a try, you’ll find them at any On The Run store on the road or even at mega toy stores like Toys “R” Us. As usual, make sure you have fun company to join in; it’s all about the people!
