Anime Series We Watched As Kids

No one “gets” into anime as an adult. Sure, that might seem ridiculous to say since the number of anime watchers is clearly on the rise. But here’s the thing — all of these people, literally every single one, has watched anime as kids. Even if they don’t remember it.

And here’s another bold statement. All of these anime watchers will remember seeing these 6 series in particular…because we ALL watched them, no exceptions.

Case Closed (aka Detective Conan)

If you weren’t shivering with fear and anticipation when the episode begins and those flame-gates opened, just what were you doing?

Sure, Detective Conan wasn’t the most kid-friendly show (a man gets literally decapitated by a string on the FIRST episode) but you can’t deny that it was always worth the wait…and the ad-breaks!

Doroob Remi

This was just the perfect story wasn’t it? Classic ‘Omy‘ song aside, Remi went through hell as a child and we went through it with her.

But after all the running away, child slavery (yes, this happened), having her mentor die, and finally finding her birth mother, we all got the ending we waited for!

Slam Dunk

How many of us didn’t enjoy watching to see just how the redhead lead was going to get his way out of whatever trouble he was in?

Rooted in basketball and a VERY highly-tense environment, we can see just why we were all sucked into this wild ride.

Hunter x Hunter (aka Al-Sayad)

It was perfect from the get-go. The Rasha Rizk theme song, the stylistic choices, the characters (hello, Killua squad), to the general plot — just what did this anime not have?

Well, it had it all just in case you were (hypothetically) wondering. Just look at how many re-watches it’s getting.

Thunder Jet (aka Hazeem El-Ra3d)

If you remember this vaguely, let us give you the reminder. It was Star Wars, but it was the animated, made for kids version of Star Wars…you know, if Star Wars had that much strategizing and a killer theme tune.

Ana Wa A5y

An entire anime about the trauma about losing your mother and partially turning from a child into a part-time parent to your helpless younger sibling….and we ALL signed up because we loved crying as kids, we guess.

Either way, how about that theme song?!

Which of these series was your favorite?
