We’re all getting ready to put on our festive attire for Eid and go on a trip down memory lane! Eid al-Fitr can indeed bring back a flood of warm memories. So this year, we decided to revisit 4 essential Eid traditions – considered the cornerstones of our cherished childhood memories and celebrations – that are guaranteed to spark a wave of nostalgia!

Bomb & Sawareekh (Fireworks):
If you’re bothered by the sound of Eid Sawareekh and annoyed at kids who pull pranks on the streets during the celebrations, then you’re officially old. But you can’t deny the thrill and the fun of firing them and waiting for their dramatic sounds or finding out that they’re broken and didn’t even fire in the first place- that always felt underwhelming!

Unnecessary Family Gatherings:
You might be a little more in control now of who to visit from your relatives and distant family and when to leave, but back then, you know you had to make an inexplainable number of rounds that felt like a house chore of some kind.

Going to The Amusement Parks:
Boy were they crowded. Kids had only one destination on their minds during Eid vacation; amusement parks. The thrill of the rides and wandering around aimlessly just made this place so exciting.

The “Nady”/Sporting Club Outing:
We bet you can still smell and taste the flavor of Spaghetti and Veal Escalope from our childhood sporting clubs that we visited regularly. You also know that some of the best concerts ever were hosted at the club, and they felt like the best outings ever.

Which one of these activities hit home for you the most? Tell us what other Eid traditions you had growing up!
