An ancient egyptian city dating back to 5000 years ago, has been unearthed in the Southern Egyptian province of Sohag.

Close to the Temple of Seti I in Abydos the city was discovered holding pottery, tools and houses along with 15 newly found graves of nobility. The city of Abydos close by, is home to many temples and tombs and it is believed that this newly discovered city was where the builders involved in the construction of Abydos itself, lived. The discovery was made by an archaeological group belonging to the Egypt’s Antiquities Ministry said officials in a statement to Egypt Independent.
