In a recent phone interview, actress Horreya Farghaly, known for her roles in “Hekayat Banat” and “Kalmny Shokran” made some heart-breaking statements.

The “Saherat El Ganoub” star and Miss Egypt for the year 2002, opened up about battling depression all on her own, her dire medical condition and life without a support system.

“It all began 3 years ago when I had a horse riding accident, and my nose structure completely collapsed and my life went downhill from there.”

She got back on her feet for a little while to do her last series “Sahert El Ganoub” but when she was bullied by people on social media, she decided to lay low until her nose problem is completely fixed.

“People kept talking about a nose job gone wrong, and how I now look like Michael Jackson.”

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Farghaly was about to head to the United States and go under the knife once and for all, but Covid-19 hit and she has been stuck at home for months ever since.

But we’re not here to discuss the details of her medical history, because let’s face it, anyone could be in her shoes.

But at some point during the interview, Horreya completely lost it and had a public breakdown. Expressing her disappointment in her friends and colleagues since they never really pick up the phone and ask her how she’s holding up.

“My brother was the only one to wish me a happy new year, it broke my heart.”

This makes us wonder, in the world of celebrities, do you have to be relevant and at the peak of your career so people would actually remember you? Or is this the case with ordinary people too?

We are not speaking from a moral high ground here, we don’t know the details of Horreya’s relationships but one can only wonder. How much does it take to be there for a friend in need?

Horreya is physically struggling but now she also has to deal with depression. We hope she gets the support she deserves before it’s too late. And we hope that interview is a wake-up call to everyone who knows her.

Her story is a gentle reminder to us all. Be there, be active and supportive. Appreciate and reciprocate!
