The concept of Italian restaurants in Egypt became a plate of pasta or an Americanized pizza; we rarely have a real authentic Italian place. Luckily for us, there’s a new Italian place in Korba – 11 Seezostrees str., El Korba first right from Paul’s – called L’incontro and it’s pretty much the real deal.

First thing that we noticed was the amazing classical decor. Just by looking at the decorations, you’ll feel classy. Upon arrival, we were greeted by very nice and helpful waiters. Once we were seated, they gave us the menu right away. The menu might be a bit complicated for some, so make sure you ask the waiters for help; they’d be more than happy to help you and give you recommendations and tell you of their specials.

Being appetizers junkies, we opted for various dishes to start off our new adventure; including Insalata Di Pollo Con Avocado E Mirtilli (Chicken Salad with Avocado and Cranberries), Granchio Gratinato (Baked Stuffed Crab), Carpaccio Di Polpo (Octopus Carpaccio), and Gamberoni Piccanti Al Pomodoro (Sauted Shrimps with Spicy Tomato Sauce). As you can tell, most of the starters are seafood and Mediterranean/Italian inspired; so as soon as you have your first bite, you’ll feel like you crossed the sea and went to Italy.

Now it was time for the main dishes. The first thing we ordered was the Branzino Alle’erbe in crosta Di Sale; which translates to a baked seafood with Italian herbs under salt. This dish is known to be one of the hardest dishes to pull off. The salt and herbs, along with the fresh fish, makes it taste fresher than any other fish plate you’ll ever have. It’s like you’re tasting the sea. Must say, we were a little bit skeptic when we ordered it, but we were pleasantly surprised. A definite recommendation. Our second main dish was Fideuá catalane, the famous Spanish dish with an Italian twist. Filled with shrimps, calamari, sausages, and spaghetti pasta, it was mouthwatering to say the least.

As for the prices, it’s not really the place to go when you’re broke, but it’s certainly not expensive. Every penny you pay is fair, and for its quality, it’s more than fair. The place opens from 1 pm to 1 am, so you could enjoy brunch, lunch or dinner at any time of the day. It’s the place to go if you want to have a good meal, while enjoying a glass of wine, or any other beverage from the bar.
