Star Wars fans, rejoice! The official trailer of JJ Abrams’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally here! The trailer was shown on ESPN during halftime of Monday’s NFL game, and it gave us the first glimpse of the new leading characters.

Two teaser trailers were released before, but none gave any idea of what the movie will be like, or showed much of the new characters. It starts by the question of “Who are you?” which is smart, since that’s what we’ve been all thinking. Then we hear the new character say “I’m no one.” We’re still not sure what the Game of Thrones reference means, though.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Ray, played by Daisy Ridley, a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku. Ray is giving us all a badass vibe, which is refreshing to see a strong woman’s portrayal in such franchise, and not a damsel in distress. It then shows Finn, played by John Boyega, a redeemed First Order stormtrooper.

We also get an overall idea of the movie’s main villain, Kylo Ren, a dark warrior strong with the Force, originally a member of the Knights of Ren, and commander of the First Order. We hear him saying to a melted Darth Vader mask “Nothing will stand in our way. I will finish what you started.” I think he maybe be one of our favorite villains.

As for the scene that made us all go “heck yeah” was the one and only, Hans Solo, giving the new kids a debrifing about the Star Wars history. The scene shows Ray and Finn asking about whether the story they heard was true, and Solo says “It’s true, all of it!” Seems like these noobs don’t know what they got themselves into!

As for the poster, it’s as majestic, as we all expected! It has a classic and vintage look to it and sticks to the original Star Wars essence, yet has a new vibe to it.
