It was a particularly low Wednesday. The week was coming to an end and our energy was running low. We decided to shake things up a little and head to try Torii, the Japanese restaurant at Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayam Casino. As soon as we found the restaurant (which is right next to the bakery) we ran in because we were already too hungry and ready for some fresh sushi!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with –naturally- an Asian inspired theme. The whole place has a very peaceful and relaxing energy that you just feel as you pass through Torii’s door. There is a live teppanyaki station on the right and the sushi bar is on the left. The entire place feels very cosy and the lighting is dimmed and warm. The wooden decoration coupled with soothing music sets the perfect mood for a date night. If you look up to the ceiling, you will be pleasantly surprised with the “sparkling stars” LED lighting which looks so beautiful. We were now feeling excited and ready to order!

The menu has a variety of options to choose from. You can go for fried & grilled dishes, rice & noodle dishes, Sushi and there are also set menus for those who want a full course experience. We had our mind set on the Sushi as we heard about how fresh and delicious it was. We settled on four different options; the New Alaska Roll (Cream Cheese, Avocado, & Smoked Salmon Topped With Crabstick & Prawns Salad), Modern Tempura Roll (Deep-Fried Prawns, Unagi, Avocado, Black Caviar, & Tempura Crunches), Crunchy California Roll (Prawns Tempura, Avocado, Cucumber, Crabstick & Black Caviar In Crunchy Coated Served With Sweet Sauce) and the Crunchy Spicy Sushi (Salmon ‘Hot & Spicy’ Crunchy-Coated Sushi Served With Thick Soy-Wasabi Sauce). The friendly waiter suggested that we also try one of the dishes, the Tempura Moriawase which is a mix of deep-fried seafood and vegetables plate. It is also worth mentioning that Torii offers all you can eat Sushi and Sashimi every Monday and Friday!

The Sushi was nicely decorated and looked as good as it tasted! Our favourite was the New Alaska roll which was very succulent. The spicy sushi is definitely for those who enjoy the sting of spicy food but not recommended for those who don’t enjoy anything spicy. The Tempura and California Rolls were delicious and so was the Tempura Moriawase dish. Over-all the Sushi was fresh, well made and rather enjoyable! It is also worth mentioning that the teppanyaki show is very interesting to watch and the couple who were eating seemed to enjoy what was served to them very much!
