hello

By Esraa Mahmoud

At every point in life, we get too involved with all sorts of people. Most of the time, we feel manipulated, used and betrayed!

How many times have you thought, “OMG, I’m so dumb, I have been played all along!” No, you’re not. You just missed the signs. Rest assured, you are not alone!

After a number of horrific experiences, meeting good and bad friends, arguing with work mates about whatever, loving someone, ignoring someone, being dumped by someone, and many other life situations that left me all scarred up- not forgetting my psychological studies- I have acquired the necessary skills.

Allow me to share with you some pointers to save you from pain early on. Here are the things you need to be able to see from the very beginning:

1. Eyes:

  • If the person talking to you looks directly in your eyes, he is confident of himself/herself. Sometimes this kind of person is manipulative though, as creative and good to be around they can be, they can easily hurt others.

Business people discussing with each other

  • If the person talking to you is looking around trying to avoid eye contact, he or she might be shy or have low self-esteem. These people can be clingy in a disturbing way as they are always in need to feel that all people are around and they trust people easily, which is a two sided coin.

2. Mouth and ears:

  • If the person is always talking about him or herself, you need to pull yourself out quickly because you might find yourself dealing with a self-centered person who has a big ego.

  • If you ever meet someone who listens to you as much as he or she is talking, you now have to be the clingy one and never let go. It’s a rare thing these days.

  • If the one you’re talking to is using a lot of hand gestures while trying to explain whatever the thing is they’re trying to explain, he or she probably has a good personality and is trying to reach out. These ones are easily understandable..

  • If the one you’re talking to is folding his or her hands, they are probably trying to avoid embarrassing themselves by being withdrawn from any awkward situation that might happen.

Of course, there are exceptions to every theory. But these are the three simple skills that anyone should know to be able to identify the personalities they meet.
