Remember that wave of Mahraganat songs that was so big that every movie or TV show’s main characters had to have a Mahragan done for its promo? We thought it was over, but apparently, it’s not. The long list of checkboxes that a production has to have to be a hit or the talk of the town must still include a Mahraganat song, or so the producers of “El 3atawla” thought.

We’re all about experimenting and having fun! But we get extra introspective when it comes to big celebrities trying out trends. In actuality, Shaabi music has its own culture and artists that, despite being popular, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Mahraganat has made a huge comeback and is now very common among Gen Zers; however, it’s still viewed as a publicity stunt of some sort.

So if you think about the bigger picture, big celebrities like Ahmed El Sakka and Tarek Lotfy didn’t need a Mahragan. If anything, this approach perpetuates stereotypes and misconceptions about the show, painting it out to be cliché, shallow, and only looking after trends.

In conclusion, while artistic exploration can be enriching, big celebrities must think thoroughly about their artistic decisions—we’re all here for artists to have fun. But some “fun” decisions can be a setback and even a bad look if not necessary for the show.

What do you think about TV shows still adopting Mahraganat as a promo for big celebrities?
