This CAIROEATS review is dedicated to one of our favorite places in Cairo: Tabla Luna. Tabla Luna is a hidden gem in Maadi, introducing a new and exquisite Latin American cuisine which is not found anywhere else in Cairo. You can find Tabla Luna on Road 218 in Maadi, or in Westown Hub in 6th of October City. The one in Maadi is very small and cozy, but we all know that finding something in Maadi always ends up with a small detour of being completely lost, although parking was surprisingly relatively smooth. As for the Westown branch, it’s larger with both an outdoor and indoor space, which sadly takes away from the cozy feeling everyone got used to in Maadi, but parking is also quite easy.

The variety of food might not seem so large on their blackboard menu (yes, their menu is written with colorful chalk on a blackboard!), but because all of their plates are so delicious, we always end up having the dilemma of what to order. We’ll begin with their starters; we totally recommend their Nachos; crispy tortilla chips with melted cheese, some ground beef, creamy sour cream, chives, red beans, olives, tomatoes and jalapeños. This amazing mix plays in your mouth so well together that you literally won’t get enough of it! We also love their Peruvian Causa, which is basically mashed potato cakes with either diced tuna or shrimps soaked in an amazing cocktail sauce – honestly, we prefer the shrimps! They’re so soft, creamy and full of flavor! You definitely cannot go to Tabla Luna and not have their famous Camote, which is sweet potatoes done two ways; sweet potato chips and sweet potato croquettes with a side of their amazing sour sauce! The sweet/sour mix will always keep you wanting more!

Their main courses is where we always face our biggest challenge, because we can’t decide whether to order their beautiful 700gm Steak, their Gnocchi, or their Enchiladas! Their steak is so tender, juicy, very well seasoned and cooked to your perfection (medium rare in our case)! The flavor from the seasoning is enough that you won’t need their side sauces, and you’ll find that their side of baked potatoes and house salad is very refreshing with the steak! The Gnocchi, also known as The Confused Argentinian, is a form of pasta made from sweet potatoes swimming in a creamy, delicious spinach/parmesan cheese sauce! This is one of our top dishes, but some people consider it quite decadent, which is why we highly recommend that you share this one together. Their Enchiladas is like no other we’ve tasted in Cairo before! We prefer their beef filling, even though they have a chicken filling as well for all you poultry-fans out there. The filling is so tender, full of flavor and works really well with their fresh wrap and melted cheese on top!

Finally, their desserts are just amazing; they will give your taste buds a true treat! You have to order both the white-chocolate-flavored Crème Brulee and their Torta de Tres Leches, even if you’re completely full! Their crème brulee is by far the best we’ve had in Egypt, and the addition of white chocolate gives it a better flavor! As for the torta de tres leches, it’s a simple moist sponge cake soaked in a creamy sauce and topped with soft meringue! Yes, it’s a bit sugary, but it’s a definite must-have, because it literally melts in your mouth.

You might end up paying more than you expected, but you will feel that you really got good value for money. Tabla Luna is definitely CAIROEATS recommended!
