boys
Beyonce, Ciara and a lotta other artists spoke out about how awesome it would be if we could all be a boy for a while. Let’s face it. When the world turned grim on us, we’ve all had moments where we envisioned a parallel universe where we could turn on our “dude mode” button. Here are the insanely simple yet unimaginable things we’d do if we were boys:

1- Go around shirtless and with shorts

In the street, without a worry in the world. It’s still an issue abroad where harassment is way less and equality way more. They’re still fighting to #FreeTheNipple, so can you imagine this in Egypt?

2- Flirt with and chat up girls

This is in no way sexual harassment, more of a challenge to see if our game is on point.

3- Stay out late

We still can, sorta, but imagine staying out till 4 am without worrying about parents at home, or street harassment and your own safety. Even better, imagine being able to leave the house late for a random midnight walk whenever you feel like it.

4- El-Qahwa and Cybercafes

Smoke shisha for 5 pounds in Tahrir, or play Playstation in the cybercafes and chill with the homies.

5- Riding a microbus without a worry

It’s almost unimaginable, being able to ride pubic transport without being groped, hit on, or generally just not given an ounce of privacy and comfort. Let’s do that!

6- It5ani2 in the middle of the street

Lmn el-taxi ylif 3leek w yzno2ak fl tree2, you get outta that vehicle, roll up your sleeves and knock him out! Not condoning violence, but y’know, he shouldn’t be driving like an a**hole anyway.

7- Stand up to harassers

How many times were you subjected to harassment as a girl, or seen/heard someone get harassed and couldn’t do much about it? Now you can, and this time you’ll be taken seriously.

8- Travel around Egypt

Traveling inside Egypt for a girl is usually a hassle. Even if you get your parents to agree, you’d still have to be with friends. If we were boys, we could travel absolutely alone, camp at Sinai or Ras Sidr and not worry about a thing.

The list is endless, but that’s where we’ll have to stop. Let us know what you’d do if you could switch genders for a week, besides exploring the male anatomy of course. 😉
