Nour El-Sherif, one of the most successful, charismatic and loved Egyptian actors has passed away. He’ll definitely be missed, but his art will remain forever. He was as good as a person as he was an actor. So as a tribute for this honorable man, here are 10 things that you maybe didn’t know about him:

  1. He graduated from the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts in 1967.
  2. His first appearance on the Egyptian screens was in Qasr el Shoq in 1966. It was the second part of a novel trilogy by the famous writer Naguib Mahfouz. Adel Imam was the one who introduced him to the director Hassan Imam that cast him for the movie.
  3. He used to be a soccer player before becoming an actor; he used to play in Zamalek’s junior team.
  4. He was known between his friends from the media field as “el 7ag metwaly” and “she7ata abou kaf.”
  5. He married Pousy in 1972 and it lasted until 2006 when they were divorced. They fortunately got back together before his death by around 8 months. El- Sherif stated even when they were divorced that she was the love of his life.
  6. Nour el Sherif was an extremely intellectual person, who used to have very strong political statements and point of views.
  7. He started production when he was very young in 1975. His first movie to produce was “Da2eret el Intikam.” He chose a writer and a director that was also their first time to produce and write a movie, Samir Seif and Ibrahim Noury. He took the risk and was very proud of it.
  8. He won plenty of achievements; the last one was in 2014. It was a lifetime achievement award in Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
  9. Nour El-Sherif has participated in more than 100 movies.
  10. One of his favorite shots was in “Omar Ebn El Aziz” series, the shot when he was dying at the end. He stated in an interview that he’d like that shot to be aired after his death.
